Kyowa Kirin Princeton
Using a vibrant color palette and evoking Japanese tie-dye techniques, Kyowa Kirin’s New Jersey HQ creates a strong community spirit through striking, colorful design.
Kyowa Kirin, a leader in biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation, recently relocated its North American headquarters to Princeton. This 80,000-square-foot office spans the fifth and sixth floors, transitioning from a 65% enclosed layout to an open, activity-based workspace that encourages interaction among teams. Reflecting Kyowa Kirin’s commitment to collaborative research and knowledge sharing, the design establishes ‘neighborhoods’ that support a variety of work styles and promote the company’s culture and community spirit.
Key features include focus stations, team tables, and flexible meeting rooms, complemented by a café and tech workshop. HLW’s brandx team intricately wove Kyowa Kirin’s Japanese heritage and scientific focus into the office’s environmental graphics, using shibori patterns and cellular imagery to create compelling visual narratives.
Design that marries the brand’s Japanese cultural elements and hard science focus.
Environmental graphics and wayfinding systems enrich the space with color and narrative.
